Nutrition Information

The beef we raise at Why Not Farm and have available for purchase are grass-fed, grass finished and free range.  Our animals are also raised without the  use of antibiotics or hormones. Therefore, they are able to grow and  develop naturally, creating a healthier, tastier choice of beef for our  valued customers and their families.

Texas Long Horn beef  is known for being very low in saturated fats.  Genetically, it  has  very little fat marbling causing it to be lower in cholesterol, fat and  calories than even the white meat of chicken!!!  Including lean beef, in  a heart-healthy diet, can positively impact blood cholesterol levels.

Scottish Highland is  a "beefier" meat with natural marbling that produces  the Healthy balance of   Omega 3 and Omega 6 Fatty Acids,  It is also  said to be the only meat that the Queen of England would eat! Due to our cattle being grass-fed, the fat you do see in the beef tends to be more  yellowish in color, in contrast to the white fat that most people are  used to seeing in beef cuts. This is because our cattle are NOT grain  finished.

Angus and Hereford beef is also available for purchase. They are both similar to the Scottish Highland but tend to have more fat marbling.

Whichever you choose,  you will not only enjoy their delicious flavor, but also the knowledge that you and your family are consuming a hormone and antibiotic-free, healthy fat cut of beef that is grass-fed. Whatever type of beef we have available in the store  for purchase, we are sure you will be impressed with  the delicious taste!

Added Note:
Beef is the number one  source of protein, zinc and Vitamin B12, and the third best source of  iron in the food supply. You'd have to eat almost 12 cans of tuna to get  the equivalent amount of zinc in one 3 oz. serving of beef.  Beef is  also a good source of selenium, providing 20-30% of the recommended  daily allowance for men and women.
Recent research has found that  selenium may reduce the risk of heart disease and certain types of  cancer (such as prostate) as well as enhance the body's ability to fight  infections.
